Due to the unique environment
of the Outback lakes SA area the range of products from
this region is very diverse. It reflects the close association
the land holders have with the country the live in and
a great understanding of what it can produce in good
and varying times.
Animal products that come from this region vary from
cattle, sheep, kangaroos and camels. These are in the
form of direct to market or export abattoirs or being
sold on the place to maximise less stress on the livestock
before trucking direct to end user. Most landholders
have been trained in low stock stress free handling
techniques.
Tourism of this area is a developing market with some
landholders already participating in its benefits. But
we as a group feel this is one of the new frontiers
for people to discover in and around the large salt
lakes that encompass the outback lakes area being Lake
Eyre, Torrens, Callabonna, Blanche and Gregory. |
